Elections to Mayoral Posts Next Week: SEC

Ending agonising wait of over a month, the State Election Commission on Thursday issued the notification for indirect elections to mayor and chairmen posts of local bodies.

HYDERABAD: Ending agonising wait of over a month, the State Election Commission on Thursday issued the notification for indirect elections to mayor and chairmen posts of local bodies.

The elections for the posts of mayor and deputy mayor along with municipal chairmen and vice-chairmen will be held on July 3. The elections for mandal praja parishad and district parishad will be held the next day. District and mandal praja parishad vice-chairmen’s elections will be on July 5.

The elections will be held in Telangana and Andhra simultaneously. Elections to the offices of mayor and deputy mayor of Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Eluru, Nellore, Chittoor, Kadapa and Anantapur municipal corporations in AP and Nizamabad, Karimnagar and Ramagundam in Telangana have been due. Similarly, elections of members (co-opted), chairperson and vice-chairperson of ZPPs and MPPs of Adilabad, Karimnagar, Mahbubnagar, Medak, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, RR and Warangal are in offing.
