HYDERABAD: Rajiv Gandhi International Airport Cargo has received the Middle East/Indian Subcontinent Airport of the Year and Green Award at the Payload Asia Awards, 2014.

The Payload Asia Awards is an annual event which recognises organisations that have made a difference in the air cargo supply chain. This year’s event was held recently in Singapore and attended by more than 300 global logistics industry leaders.

Speaking on the occasion, SGK Kishore, CEO, GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL), said the award recognised their all-round operations. Like Hyderabad airport which received many laurels at national and international forums, RGIA Cargo has also received significant recognitions like “Best Cargo Airport and Best Cargo Terminal”, “Best Emerging Cargo Airport of the Year”.

Hyderabad boasts of a modular integrated cargo facility at RGIA, which is spread over 14,330 sq mt with a capacity to handle 150,000 tonne annually. An exclusive apron, adjacent to the cargo terminal caters is capable of accommodating Code-F aircraft.

A pharma zone was set up to handle pharma products at desired temperatures. The cargo complex also provides space for two animal quarantine stations, a plant quarantine station and drug controller.
