Civic Body Committee Set Up to Cleanse Durgam Lake

HYDERABAD: A five-member expert committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of GHMC additional commissioner, Pradyumna to tackle sewerage problem in and around Durgam Cheruvu in Rayadurg village of  Serilingampally mandal in Ranga Reddy district, irrigation minister T Harish Rao has said.

Harish Rao along with transport minister Mahender Reddy held a coordination meeting with senior officials of GHMC, HMWS&SB, Irrigation officials and local residents residing around Durgam Cheruvu at Club house here on Saturday. The local residents have brought to the notice of the minister of sewerage that is polluting the lake. The minister said that the 5 MLD capacity sewerage treatment plant in Durgam Cheruvu built more than 10 years ago has become insufficient to meet the expanding colonies around the Durgam Cheruvu lake. Moreover many commercial buildings and surrounding colonies were letting out the drainage into inlets of Durgam Cheruvu.
