A Virtual Trial Room

HYDERABAD: Ever been in a situation where you like many clothes during your shopping trip but don’t have the time or strength to try all of them on? Worry not as there is a startup which does all the leg work for you.

Hyderabad based startup “Imaginate” founded by Hemanth Satyanaryana gives one a virtual trial room with its ‘TrialAR’, an alternative to a physical trail room. Created in the form of an augmented reality enabled “virtual trial room experience, TrialAR is a digital interactive platform that helps the shoppers try out clothes and accessories quickly and seamlessly.

The augmented reality program captures the image of the customer and selects the desired cloth/accessory infront the dressing table (mirror) shaped LCD screen which allows the customer to see how they look in the clothes. “I was working with augmented reality and cloud technologies in Google, USA. When I came back to Hyderabad and my wife would take a lot of time in selecting sarees and trying them on. She would complain how time consuming it was. That was when the idea of applying my knowledge of this technology to create a virtual dressing room cam to me,” says Hemanth, the founder of Imaginate.

“At present, TrailAR is being used in Kalamandir and few other wedding malls in the city in addition to stores and malls in the United States and UK.

Keeping the growing trend of online shopping in mind, he also started a program called ‘DRES.SY’ which enables online fashion shoppers to virtually try out clothes and also share the dress on social networks to get feedback from family and friends.

Imaginate provides their services to e-commerce portals like YEPME, Snapdeal,eBay etc. Among the awards the programme has won is the NEXT B2B startup, MIT TR35 Innovator of the year 2012, , Top 10 Indian product company at Product Launchpad by NASSCOM for the year 2011.
