A Video for Your Start-up

Offering cost-effective and high quality video solutions to brands is the Hyderabad-based startup Laputa Media. Its founder Ankit Bakshi tells us more

HYDERABAD: Getting that much needed push when it comes to starting your company or promoting the brand is tough. The many issues that need to be taken into account before you go ahead and start your venture is getting investors, networking in case of startups and a great concept when it’s a established company.

While smart phones are aplenty which makes the job of making promotional videos very simple, there does come a time when you need professional services. This is where Laputa Media Solutions, a Hyderabad-based company comes to your rescue.

The video-solutions based company provides high-quality concept videos that don’t burn a hole in your pocket and is the brainchild of biotech engineer Ankit Bakshi who started it in 2011.

“It was while I was in college that I started writing scripts for short films which I would make,” says Ankit who was further encouraged after some of his films were selected for film festivals.

“But I soon realised that there was nothing monetary that was coming out of it. Then I decided why not start a company where one can get some returns out of it,”shares Ankit. However, though the idea was in place, Ankit got around to it only after working in a multi national corporation for a while which provided him ample time to do his groundwork and research.

After networking with entrepreneurs and other existing startups in the field, Ankit realised that not many companies offered cost-effective services, when it comes to promotional videos. And that was how Laputa Media Solutions came to be formed.

Since then, Laputa Media has worked with Villgro, Jago Party, UnLtd Hyderabad DesiCrew and the Right To Walk foundation along with start-ups like Little Eye Labs, Phisix Fashion Labs.

It is an example of the quality of their work that they get repeat orders from their clients which number at 42 at present. Ask him how manages to keep the prices nominal, and he says, “We are a team of five people as a core team and we hire freelancers as and when the project requires. Also the kind of techniques we use helps keep the price low,” explains Ankit, who works with a mix of creative directors, music composers, graphic designers in addition to actors, and voice artists.

“We have also made promotional videos for well-known names like Google India, Microsoft and Simba toys. We also create promotional videos for universities for their prospectus which are also converted into one minute theatre spots,”states the 26-year old.

Laputa Media has worked with close to 42 clients, out of which some are on retainer basis. Having created close to 78 videos till date, Ankit now plans on expanding his network and employing more trained people in his team

“It’s all a cycle, when we have more clients, we will have more employees and that will happen the more create videos for which we need more clients,” opines Ankit.
