Blame it on Bumpy Road; Another Life Lost in Repeat of Last Yr Tragedy

HYDERABAD: Bumpy roads that led to traffic snarls claimed the life of a 78-year-old retired BHEL employee near Anand theatre in Ramgopalpet police limits on Monday. Ironically, an 18-year-old Intermediate student was crushed to death under the wheels of an RTC bus after she fell from her bike due to a bumpy road at the same place last year.

As the traffic police diverted vehicular traffic since the road has become bumpy on Begumpet-Secunderabad stretch, the septuagenarian who was supposed to reach hospital for treatment got down from an RTC bus. As there was a ditch, he lost balance and came under the rear wheels of the bus. The deceased was identified S Narayana Rao, a resident of Malkajgiri. Ramgopalpet Sub-Inspector P Shiva Prasad said the victim, who was a kidney patient,  was undergoing dialysis in Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences for the last eight months.

In a similar accident at the same place on July 23, 2013, 18-year-old Riya Dudial, an Intermediate student, died on the spot when she fell from a two-wheeler she was pillion-riding after the bike skidded. She was run over by a bus which was following the bike.
