GHMC Officials Told to Speed up Road Works

HYDERABAD: For taking up the sanctioned 34 road works below Rs 5 crore each in different parts, Mayor M Majid Hussain on Friday instructed engineering officials to invite tenders and complete the process in a month.

He also asked the officials to finalise the  Rs 5 per meal scheme and place it in the Standing Panel meeting next week for approval and also instructed them to invite tenders for setting up reverse osmosis (RO) plants in almost all the 150 divisions. 

The Mayor held a review meeting on comprehensive road development plan along with the Engineer-in-Chief R Dhan Singh and senior officials of the engineering wing. He said that conventional and CC topping works worth `150 crore have been placed before the government for approval. These works will be taken up after completing the tender process. He also said that the BT road works worth `60 crore will also  be taken up after receiving the GO.

The Mayor said that for the first time in the GHMC a national bidding of Rs 150 crore worth works will be called for and they would be completed at the earliest.
