BHEL Bags 2 Power Plant Contracts

HYDERABAD: Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) will execute two power projects in Telangana - one at Kothagudem with an installed capacity of 800 MW and another at Manuguru with an installed capacity of 1,080 MW. A decision to this effect was taken by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at the Secretariat here on Tuesday. The chief minister has  agreed to give the two power projects to BHEL, on engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis at the request of top BHEL officials including chairman and managing director BP Rao, director (power) Atul Sobti and executive directors Gopalakrishnan and Sriram who called on him at the Secretariat on Tuesday.

The chief minister said the execution has to be timebound and targeted.

BHEL CMD assured Rao to execute the projects of 1,080 MW (4x270) within the  next 24 months and the remaining within the next three years.

The chief minister also directed Telangana State Genco CMD to ensure generation of 6,000 MW in the next three years to make the state power surplus.
