Woman Robber Nabbed in Bollaram

HYDERABAD: The Bollaram police on Wednesday arrested a 35-year-old woman for committing thefts from passengers in running buses. Police seized 290 gms gold ornaments from her.

According to police, the arrested woman, Boya Durga (35) from Shankar Nagar committed various offences in Bollaram, Bowenpally, Trimulgherry and Mahankali police limits.

The deputy commissioner of police R Jaya Lakshmi said the accused is a professional robber of small jewellery pouches from woman bus passengers. She has a criminal record in past and was arrested many times and served jail terms.

‘’She operates with her accomplices Mekala Durga, Amoori Mercy Rani and Amoori Tirupathamma. Her modus operandi is to target lonely woman who travel in buses. She is an expert in assessing the passengers carrying jewellery pouches in their bags and picks up the jewellery pouches from the purse or hand bags,” the DCP said. When police teams visited for apprehending the culprits, they threatened to set themselves ablaze.
