Local Tribute to Metal Heroes

Metal music coupled with a rocking ambience is what city-based band Undercover promises in their Metallica tribute

HYDERABAD: Prepare yourself for a night of head banging music churned out by city-based band Undercover. The five member band will be playing a tribute to the epic metal band-- Metallica. The band lineup consists of drummer Suzki Naidu (30), guitarist Ravi Nibanarthy (26) and Rohit Nair (25), bassist Abbas Razvi (27) and lead vocalist Nikhil Madari (30). The shared love for music is what brought about the friends together in the 2013.

“We are a bunch of music enthusiasts who are friends first and then musicians, we all love, listen, play different kinds of music, it is something that holds us together,” say the bandmates. Quiz them on why they chose to dedicate a tribute to Metallica, vocalist Nikhil says, “It is a legendary band that has been entertaining people all over the world. People who listen to metallic rock or any English music will be sure shot fans of Metallica, as we are. As there are many fans in the city, it is our way of showing gratitude and acknowledging them on behalf of the city and its people.”

With Metallica enjoying a more or less demi god status among their followers, the band did harbour their apprehensions about making goof-ups. “Paying tribute to such a band isn’t easy, we must perform with zero errors as the band and the songs are very popular. We have been rehearsing for over two weeks now for the show. We are also performing in Bengaluru next week,” states Nikhil who says the bands objective is to provide a thrilling experience to the music enthusiasts at the same time familiarising non-metal fans with Metallica.

Speaking on the music scene in the city, Nikhil observes, “Live music, concerts in the city has picked up, people are now showing an interest in live music which has pitched up on a larger scale compared to last year.” And live music is something Undercover focuses on as they believe it honours the musicians.

“One can really honour a musician if you go to their live concerts. Rather than downloading his/her songs. Only if one attends the concerts and promote live music, can they claim to be music enthusiasts and a fan of musicians,” claims Nikhil Madari.

Catch the gig live at Hard Rock Cafe today at 9 pm.
