Slow and Steady is the Ideal Way

Slow and Steady is the Ideal Way

It is natural for anyone trying to lose weight to hope for quick results but Dr Sara Nasir, a city-based obesity specialist, recommends otherwise. She stresses that quick weight-loss plans or pills have long-term effects that are  harmful.“People who lose weight using traditional method, which is a slow process, are more successful at keeping weight off,” said the doctor at the launch of ‘organic health plan’ at her obesity clinic Belleza in Karkhana.

Discussing facts and myths surrounding weight loss she said, “Weight loss through technology like liposuction, laser. and so on might be helpful for people who need it badly. For example people who are obese. But it might harm your health. When people choose to use technology, they must get a full understanding of what it involves, including the risk factors.”

When one decides to lose weight, she emphasises that they must keep in mind that body input and output ratio should be maintained. If the input is more than output, the person will naturally put on weight. She added, “Quick way to lose weight is by converting fat into muscles. Diet and workout will help one quickly bring their weight down.”

At Belleza, Sara will psychologically motivate people. “We have in-house psychologist, cardiologist, diabetologist, and others who will check the person’s health and give their suggestions on how to go about it. After which the obesity expert will give them a weight loss plan accordingly. It will be a slow process but will not harm your body,” she informs.

The diet plans will be accompanied with anti-lipolite creme or gel according to the person’s needs. With 14 years of experience in hand, she says two pounds of weight loss in two weeks is what human body permits. “Half an hour to 45 minutes of workout per week would be idle,” she suggests.

A recent study said that standing and working makes a person healthy. Commenting on that, the obesity specialist says that it is healthy because it also helps you keep your spine erect apart from burning extra calories. “In fact a lot of  companies abroad also have desks for people who would like to stand and work,” Sara quipps.
