The English and Foreign Languages University

This is the pioneer institute for studying foreign languages in the country. Formerly known as Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages, EFLU became a central university in 2006. Full  time courses from Bachelors to Doctor of Philosophy are offered in Arabic, French, German, Japanese, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, Persian, Turkish, Italian, Chinese and Korean. They have the best choice faculty. Selection is based on an all India entrance examination that usually has to be taken in the month of February. Alliance Francaise Hyderabad

Proficiency in French is highly appreciated even in English speaking countries.

Being one of the official languages of United Nations, knowledge in French can be an advantage. Alliance Francaise, has two branches in Hyderabad. Upcoming classes will be updated on their official website and they are also planning to form a Kids Club. Fee for the course varies according to the course content, timing and period.

Goethe Institut Hyderabad

Germany is evolving as one of the major destinations by Indian students especially for doctoral studies. As TOEFL score is not mandatory, proficiency in German can be an added advantage for your profile. As many universities in Germany including the prestigious University of Heidelberg are offering exchange programmes and summer schools, studying German is helpful. The Goethe Institut is the cultural  institute of Germany that promotes German language abroad for international cultural cooperation. The level of course that can be opted in Goethe is selected through a placement exam and interview. Learning goals are created based on your performance.  Cost of this exam is `500.

Studying an oriental language like Japanese can be more than challenging. Institutes offering these languages are also rare to find. Japanese language courses, translation services and special workshops to promote Japanese culture are offered by the centre. Conversation classes that extends for four months costs `3000.
