TSPSC Makes E-Registration Mandatory

HYDERABAD: The Telangana State Public Service Commission, which is set to issue a notification for jobs, has decided to make One Time Registration (OTR) mandatory. All applications to TSPSC have to follow the OTR route and no offline applications would be accepted. An announcement would be made to this effect soon.

Though the OTR facility was introduced some time back, aspiring candidates can continue the registration process, till the due dates are announced, as prescribed by the yet-to-be issued notification.

Once registered, candidates get updates regarding job notifications on their mobile phones. So far, nearly two lakh candidates have done the OTR.

According to TSPSC officials, the OTR system was made mandatory to cut down on the manual work and to save time of the candidates. “We don’t want candidates forming serpentine queues outside TSPSC office and want to cut down on the human contact,” a senior official said.

When OTR was launched, initially, it was voluntary foreseeing problems with online applications and accessibility of computers to candidates. However, the TSPSC has decided to make it compulsory as the system is running successfully.

“We are not insisting on Aadhaar Card details. If the candidate wishes or possesses Aadhaar card it would be better for them to provide those details. So far 70 per cent of candidates provided Aadhaar details. This would help us in putting a check on impersonation,” the official added.

Following a directive from the Chief Minister’s Office, the TSPSC officials have speeded up the process of issuing notifications. The first set of notifications is likely to be for assistant executive engineer posts next week.

Currently, TSPSC is in the process of gathering roster points, indents among other details from various departments.
