HYDERABAD: Assuring that the government will welcome industrialists to set up their units in the state, forest and environment minister Jogu Ramanna has asserted that his department will act sternly against those firms that flout norms.
Noting that the government was committed to making Telangana a pollution-free state, he asked officials to step up vigil against industries operating in the state, especially 17 types of select industries, that were harming the environment.
He held a high-level meeting with senior officials of Pollution Control Board and forest department here on Thursday.
Under the Green Belt scheme, efforts would be made to raise plants on industries’ premises and the green cover in existing firms would be increased.
