Changing the Face

“Assam has been known for the wrong reasons till now, we want to change that. It is rich in natural beauty, has a rich cultural heritage and very warm and beautiful people,” said Ashutosh Agnihotri, Commissioner & Secretary, Tourism Department, Government of Assam at an interactive session in the city on Thursday.

The session was conducted to showcase the potential of Assam as an ideal tourist destination.”Assamese culture, the state’s wildlife, green golf courses, sprawling tea gardens and the majestic Brahmaputra make Assam truly matchless. The place has immense tourism potential both for domestic and overseas travelers. It is well connected and safe. People are warm and hospitable. We invite one and all to visit Assam,” Agnihotri added.

He also shared how Assam is a twelve month tourist destination that offers varied experiences for tourists during different seasons. “Assam’s pristine natural beauty is at its best between April and August. The two biggest tourist attractions in Assam, the Kamakhya temple and Kaziranga National Park, as that’s the best time of the year for wild life tourism,” he said further.
