HYDERABAD:  BJP Uppal MLA NVSS Prabhakar has called for a bandh in his constituency on Friday. This, he said, is a result of continued lack of response to his indefinite strike outside Uppal GHMC circle office that has entered 8th day.

They have been the part and parcel of Swacch Hyderabad for years and for the last 15 days they are out of work. We have been staging a protest for a week demanding to reinstate them. The government has just not shown any response forcing us to call for a strike,” he said.

According to him, these were the same employees who had earlier fought for pay revision. “They are basically illiterate and when government revised their pay and directed them to join back via text messages, they have not received the messages and hence did not join duty next day. For this, they were immediately removed,” he added.
