Absentee Doc Suspended after KTR's Surprise Visit to PHC

KHAMMAM:  Minister for Information Technology and Panchayat Raj K Taraka Rama Rao on Friday suspended one doctor and two staff members of a primary health centre (PHC) in Tekulapalli mandal for not attending to their duties on time.

KTR, along with Minister for Roads and Buildings Tummala Nageswara Rao, paid a surprise visit to Sulanagar PHC and found that the doctor, Srinu Naik, senior assistant Upender, and office subordinate Nalini Kamala were absent. To their surprise, the ministers found that the trio had signed into the attendance register, but were not present on the premises. Angered by their absence, KTR spoke with District Medical and Health Officer Bhanu Prakash and instructed him to take action against the trio.

Later, the IT Minister said that if CCTV cameras were installed at all primary health centres, higher officials would be able to monitor the performance of the staff from the district headquarters itself.

Both the ministers also visited Tekulapalli gram  panchayat office and interacted with villagers in Bojjagudem. Zilla parishad chairperson G Kavitha, former MLC B Laxminarayana and others were present.
