GHMC to Illuminate City for June 2 Fete

HYDERABAD: In connection with the Telangana State Formation Day on June 2, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has planned large-scale, colourful decorative illumination at all heritage and important buildings.

As many as 100 main junctions, 18 flyovers, 25 heritage buildings, 28 road medians and 36 islands in the city will be decorated. Fixing of illumination lights at different places across the city has started and would be completed in days. The decorative lighting would be on display from June 1 to 7.

A human chain will also be organised from Tank Bund to Necklace Road with all the GHMC staff and sanitation workers. Three tableaux are being prepared on Swachh Hyderabad theme for display on June 2 at the Parade Grounds.

GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar said GHMC has decided to celebrate Telangana State Formation Day in a fitting manner by organising among other things competitions in various fields for all the self-help groups in the city.

Photography competition on Hyderabad will also be organised. Five prizes of `50,000, `25,000, `10,000, `5,000, `3,000 and 20 consolation prizes of `1,000 each will be distributed.
