CM Assures Rs 700 Crore More for Police HQ, Command and Control Centre

The twin towers will have a observation deck and a police museum on the 18th floor which will be open for public

HYDERABAD: Reaffirming his commitment to modernise the state police and ensure better policing, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao announced  sanctioning of an additional fund of Rs 700 crore for establishment of a world class Integrated Police Command and Control Centre in Hyderabad on Sunday.

The facility at road number 12, Banjara Hills, will also house headquarters of Hyderabad city police. With the sanctioning Rs 700 crore additional fund, the Command and Control Centre  .

Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the facility on the 7-acre premises, Rao said that the additional fund would be included in the next state budget.

The twin towers, with high performance double insulated glass shielding, will also have a grand observation deck and a police museum on the 18th floor which would be open for public.

The first tower will have 24 floors and the second 16 floors with helipads atop them,  This apart, the building would also have a mega solar photovoltaic roof, a mega video wall covering the entire city, building-integrated photovoltaic panel on facade, parking facility for 740 cars and an auditorium to seat 900 persons.

The centre is envisaged to become the technology driven operation hub for all wings of Hyderabad city Police and various government departments. Stating that the construction would be completed within the shortest possible time, the Chief Minister said that the headquarters will facilitate fusion of technology with all wings of policing including the law and order, traffic management and crisis management. This would ensure peace and harmony in the city and thus instil confidence among investors.

“Having a world class building alone is not enough...we are going to install 10,000 CCTV cameras across Hyderabad and Cyberabad. I expect some community cameras as well. I have told the chief secretary to review the CSR funds for the year and transfer the same to the police department,” said the chief minister. Further, he requested contribution from MPs, MLAs and MLCs.

“I expect a good contribution from the MPLADS funds. If MLAs and MLCs, who receive an annual fund of Rs 1.5 crore for development of their constituency, contribute Rs 50 lakh, we can pool in Rs 100 crore,” KCR said.  Home minister Nayini Narasimha Reddy explained the vision and mission of Telangana Police and efforts being made to achieve the same.

Union minister Bandaru Dattatreya, deputy CM Md Mahmood Ali, commercial taxes minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, Rajya Sabha MPs V Hanumantha Rao and K Kesava Rao, chief secretary Rajiv Sharma, Home secretary Rajiv Trivedi, in-charge DGP Sudeep Lakhtakia and Hyderabad police commissioner M Mahender Reddy were present on the occasion.
