Unable to Pay Fees, Student Ends Life

HYDERABAD: Unable to pay college fees and distressed over crop loss, a 20-year-old a first year degree student committed suicide at his residence in Anupamanagar of Hasthinapuram on Monday evening. Vakita Shiva Krishna, was found hanging from the ceiling of his couse at around 6.30 pm, Monday.

The incident, that occured barely four days after a 15-year-old boy committed suicide by jumping onto a moving train in Karimnagar due to alleged harassment by school management for delay in payment of fee, shocked the student community here on Monday.

Shiva Krishna could not attend classes for the past few days as he failed to pay Rs 14,000 as college fees. According to Nagendra Babu, brother of the deceased, the family was not in a position to pay the college fees due to failure of crops.The family, residing in Mahabubnagar,  eked out a living from farming, Nagendra Babu said in his complaint to LB Nagar police.
