HYDERABAD: Out of 10 Bathukamma tableaux representing the 10 Telangana districts, which will be paraded during Bathukamma celebrations in the city on Tuesday, only three are being prepared by fabricators in the youngest state and the rest by those from Andhra Pradesh.

Decrying this, Telangana fabricators allege bias in granting tenders by officials. They claim that though MPs and ministers have been apprised of the issue, it has had  no fruitful impact.

“Except those of Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Khammam, the tableaux representing the remaining seven districts are being prepared from AP. There are enough fabricators in Telangana who can handle the work but are not given the work,” said K Rajeshwar Rao, treasurer of Telangana State Tableau, Stalls Fabricators Association at a press conference held at Nampally Exhibition Grounds here on Sunday.

He alleged that officials in collectors’ offices favoured fabricators from AP. “Lower quotations were submitted to win the tenders but the price to complete the work was hiked later,” alleged Rajeshwar Rao.
