Gandipet Reservoir to be Under Mission Kakatiya

HYDERABAD: The state government has decided to bring Osmansagar (Gandipet) reservoir under Mission Kakatiya for development, beautification and protection, irrigation minister T Harish Rao has said.

The minister held a detailed review meeting with various departments concerned at the Secretariat here on Tuesday and it was decided to bring Osmansagar under the purview of Mission Kakatiya.

A four-member committee from Irrigation, Revenue, Police and Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board has been formed to look into construction and protection of the reservoir. After identifying the full tank level, fencing would be laid all along the shores of the reservoirs. Harish Rao asked the officials to prepare a detailed report for beautification of the lake and submit the same in a week.

He said donors were coming forward to protect the reservoir from pollution and encroachments. Donors can send their contribution to the Mission Kakatiya funds, Harish said.
