Autorickshaw Bandh Tomorrow

HYDERABAD:  Telangana Auto Drivers Joint Action Committee would observe auto bandh for a day from September 1 midnight, to protest against ban on diesel-run autos around Charminar, which are alleged to pose environmental threat to the historic structure. The JAC contended that the restriction is not extended on taxi services like Ola and Uber, whose cabs also run on diesel. “A dharna would be held at Charminar at 11 am against the decision,” said Mohd Amanullah Khan, convener of JAC.

He stated that from 2002, only CNG and LPG driven autos were allowed to be registered to ply in the city and registration of diesel-run autos were banned.  “Diesel-run cabs are being registered and the government remains to be a mute spectator, despite the fact that these vehicles pose environmental threat,” he added.
