GHMC plans to create well-designed permanent decorative illumination and lighting with new-age technologies in the city

HYDERABAD: As many as four consultants have come forward for designing the festive decorative lighting and illumination with new age technologies for five important roads and 13 important heritage buildings, monuments and places in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

The GHMC plans to create well-designed permanent decorative illumination and lighting with new-age technologies in the city and invited expression of interest (EOI) a few days ago for selection of a consultant. Four consultants _ T2 Technology Consulting Pvt Ltd, Lux Decibels, Catpro Events and Entertainments Ltd and Lighting Concepts _ have submitted their bids.

In the first phase, five important roads and 13 heritage buildings, monuments and places will be taken for decorative illumination and 3D lighting on a permanent basis.

The roads are Tank Bund Road (4 km), Necklace Road (6 km), Assembly Road (3 km), Raj Bhavan Road (3 km) and NTR Marg (1 km).

The heritage buildings, monuments and places are Charminar, State Assembly, Clock Tower, Buddha statue in the Hussainsagar, Ravindra Bharathi, Kacheguda railway station, High Court, Birla temple, Unani Hospital, Hussainsagar, Nampally railway station, Secunderabad railway station and Mecca Masjid.

Short-listed applicants will be invited for a presentation and, based on the EOI and presentation, they will be short-listed again for next stage. After the consultants present alternative themes and designs for each road, building or monument along with 3D models and walkthroughs, the GHMC will select one of the themes and technologies for the selected streets and buildings.

Based on the approval of design and theme, specifications, cost estimates, tenders will be invited from vendors and suppliers for supply, erection and maintenance.

The consultants would help GHMC evaluate the vendors and sign an agreement with them for supply and maintenance and to review and monitoring the supplies and erections as per the plans envisaged.

As the response to the illumination done on important main roads, buildings, monuments during the Telangana State Formation Day celebrations in the first week of June was encouraging, GHMC decided to go in for permanent decorative illumination with new- age technologies.

Currently, GHMC illuminates important roads, monuments and landmark buildings only on important occasions and festivals and outsources the work to local agencies. Once a permanent arrangement is made, the roads, buildings and monuments will be illuminated on holidays such as Sundays, festival holidays and other important occasions.
