From a rapper to a dancer – how did this happen?

I would modify the question to ‘from an artiste to an artiste’. That is the exact branding I want to create. I am not just a rapper, I am an artiste. I can dance, I can make music, I can sing, I can rap, I can write.

Tell us about your dance background.

I have never really learnt dancing, but I have been a part of ‘Dance India Dance Doubles’ with my middle name Max which very few know about. I used to teach dance and the money thus earned would be used for my recordings.

Your expectation from this show?

I am expecting to make my choreographer Sneha, the Salsa queen of India, happy. If she is happy then half of my job is done and I am on the right track.

Reason behind joining this show.

If you are on Jhalak, it means you are a star. As musicians, people know us because of our voices, not by our faces. People appreciate our work but don’t know who the person is.

How has your journey been as a rapper been?

It has been amazing. I started my journey from the streets, I used to write about real things and have moved on to being accepted as a part of this industry.

What is your strategy for the show?

Strategy department is all Sneha’s. My strategy is to follow her strategy.

What do you think of the judges?

Karan Johar has all the experience. Lauren is a good, perfectly trained dancer. Ganesh Hegde is the technical guru of dance. And Shahid Kapoor is the heartthrob of all the ladies, besides being a fabulous dancer and a great actor.

Who is your competition on the show?

My only competitor is genuinely my choreographer, Sneha.

One contestant who has the potential to become a life-long friend?

Sneha. We gel very well and have become really good friends. The Jhalak team is like a big family.
