They say small opportunities are the beginning of great enterprises, and Atisi Rana is one talented lady who is creating her own opportunities. Atisi has turned her passion for painting into a commercial venture called The Blue Flower.

The artist creates wall clocks, serving trays, mugs, wall art and other home décor items using the ancient Indian Madhubani painting technique. The original art of Madhubani was created using natural dyes extracted from vegetables and depicted human forms, abstract or linear in shape.

These paintings are famous for their myriad colours and intricate figures portraying celebratory events, such as festivals, births and marriages. Artist’s work is a similar explosion of colour, culture and mythology, and she maintains the solid and youthful forms and shapes that Madhubani art represents. She tell us, “My design philosophy is simple. I try a fusion between the ancient art form and contemporary designs and ideas. All my products reflect the same.”

Intoxicating.JPGThe artist started this venture as a small project, when her husband pushed her into showcasing her talents at a stall at the Night Market in Goa. The success and appreciation that she has received since then has helped her grow this into a business and she has  continually been adding more products and designs to her brand.

With such an exceptional talent, eye for detail and supportive families, it is no wonder that women like her are making a mark in the business arena! Add some culture, drama and elegance to your living room with The Blue Flower’s striking creations.
