HYDERABAD: A 29-year-old sub-inspector of police, Ramesh, allegedly committed suicide by hanging from a tree in  Kandanelli village in Ranga Reddy district. However, family members of Ramesh alleged that it was a murder and not a suicide. The distraught family demanded a judicial probe into the death.

The SI, who was posted at Yalal police station was found hanging from a tamarind tree in the village on Tuesday night. He was married to Geetha a year ago, and she is four-months pregnant.

Geetha started sensing something wrong with him as  he sent two SMSes to her on Tuesday night, one of which reportedly read ‘I am at Kandanelli chinta chettu ’ and another ‘Forgive’. The message that he was at the tree was also sent to constables of Yalal police station.

Policemen  rushed to the spot only to find his body hanging from the tree at 11.20 p.m and later the body was shifted to Tandur government hospital for postmortem.
