SPG commandos review security in city, districts ahead of PM's visit on Aug 7

HYDERABAD: In view of the high threat perception to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of Independence Day and ahead of Modi’s first visit to Hyderabad on August 7 after the formation of Telangana, Special Protection Group officials on Thursday visited the city and convened a meeting with senior police officials to take stock of security measures.

Keeping in mind the recent arrests of ISIS suspects from Hyderabad, SPG officials visited Begumpet Airport where the flight carrying the PM will arrive. Leaving no stone unturned to provide high security to Modi, the SPG officials also visited LB Stadium where the PM will attend a public meeting. The officials a;sp collected preliminary information with the city police. A team of senior police officials from the state wo;; get in touch with the security agency and SGP commandos right from arrival of the Prime Minister and till he leaves the city.

Jammer vehicles will arrive in the city and a trail run will be conducted in examining security measures. It was also reported that the central intelligence and SPG commandos have collected details from State intelligence and police officials on the activities of the recently held ISIS operatives.

The State Protocol officials and Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Delhi have also asked the Meteorological Department officials to provide weather report on August 7 for utilising chopper for PM’s tour to districts from Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, the city police have chalked out a plan to deploy forces. The city police will conduct frisking checks at all sensitive places in the city. The police will also issue orders banning drones near Begumpet Airport, LB Stadium and the districts where the PM’s tour is scheduled to be held on August 7.
