Alternative roads to ease Hyderabad traffic

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will coordinate with the traffic police to identify alternate roads for hassle-free movement of traffic.

HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will coordinate with the traffic police to identify alternate roads for hassle-free movement of traffic.
Also major bottlenecks like streetlights, transformers which are obstructing traffic would be removed. This decision was taken up in the convergence meeting held here on Saturday. The meeting was chaired by GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy and attended by TSSPDCL MD G Raghuma Reddy, HMWS&SB MD M Dana Kishore and Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Jeethender. 

Hyderabad district collector Rahul Bojja, Rangareddy district collector Raghunandan Rao and senior officials of various government heads of the departments attended the meeting. Jeethender said that there were traffic problems in some areas and there is a need to identify alternate roads to avoid traffic jams. He suggested to review the proposed road from Moosarambagh all along the River Musi to Imlibun.

The GHMC Commissioner said a survey would be conducted along with the department concerned shortly. About 440 streetlight poles and 61 transformers have been found obstructing traffic. For removing them, `1.95 crore will be released from GHMC funds to TSSPDCL, Reddy said. On HMDA’s request, the dumpingyard at Uppal Ring Road would be shifted after identifying a place. Schemes like JNNURM, 2BHK and other housing schemes were discussed.
