HYDERABAD: A minor student of a corporate college was subjected to corporal punishment by one of her lecturers. The incident took place at Sri Chaitnaya Junior College located in SR Nagar police limits on Friday.
According to members of child rights organisation - Balala Hakkula Sangham, lecturer Dora Babu assaulted a minor by imposing corporal punishment. The student received bleeding injuries.
The incident came to light on Friday when the victim’s parents approached Balala Hakkula Sangham seeking justice.
A complaint was lodged with SR Nagar asking police to take action against lecturer Dora Babu, Boppana Satyanarayana Rao, chairman, Dr Jhansi Lakshmi Bai, secretary, Seema Boppana, director, Sreecharan Veera Machineni, director, Sushma S Boppana for imposing corporal punishment.
The child rights members also stated that all these persons are responsible for the cruelty against children and violation of the child rights.
SR Nagar police said they received a complaint and are verifying the facts. Police said that they would take action against management for assaulting the minor.
