Cook Arrested for Stealing Jewellery, Cash

HYDERABAD:  A 21-year-old male cook, who committed a theft of gold and diamonds, was arrested by the SR Nagar police on Friday. Police seized stolen property worth `10 lakh from him.  The cook, Shivanath Mukiya is from Rajamanni village in Berole mandal of Bihar.

As per police, Lakshminarayana Timwala (64), a resident of Balkampet, lodged a complaint with the police on April 19, stating that on April 18, he, along with his family members, had gone to Taj Krishna Hotel to attend a function after  locking the main door of the house and asked Mukiya to guard the house. On their  return, the family found that their gold ornaments, diamonds and cash were missing and the servant was absconding. 

During investigation, police found that the accused had committed a theft in Banjara Hills in 2014. He also committed thefts in  Saifabad and Marredpally areas.

Since January this year he had been working as a cook in the house of Lakshminarayana. He made duplicate keys to all doors and  cupboards and had been waiting for an opportunity. On April 18, he stole gold, diamonds and `2.50 lakh in cash, and absconded along with the duplicate keys. Mukiya was produced in court which sent him to judicial remand.
