HYDERABAD: The lift irrigation project at Mutchumarri village that was meant to provide irrigation water to Rayalaseema from Srisailam through KC Canal, which was executed by Megha Engineering Infrastructure Limited, will be launched by Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on January 2, 2017.

The KC Canal system provides irrigation facilities to 2.65 lakh acres in Kharif and Rabi seasons in Kurnool and Kadapa districts by utilising 39.90 tmc ft water from Tungabhadra river. Of the 39.90 tmc ft water, 10 tmc ft is from Tungabhadra. This assistance of 10tmc ft is being used during lean flows in Tungabhadra river.
However, out of releases from Tungabhadra dam actual releases at Sunkesula barrage has been very meagre. The lift irrigation scheme of KC Canal has been envisaged to lift water from the foreshore of Srisailam  project.
