HYDERABAD: Malakpet police on Wednesday arrested seven persons, including a woman, in connection with a robbery attempt in Saleem Nagar Colony late last month. In a daylight robbery attempt, the seven accused led by the woman had barged into the victim’s house but fled the scene after finding her son at home.

The accused are Priyam Toshniwal, 20-year-old B Com student and a distant relative of the complainant and his accomplices Saurabh Agarwal (20), Rekha Agarwal (41), Mohd Zafar (23), Feroz Khan (30), Harshith Sharma (24) and Mohd Atheeq (25). One Mohd Saif (19) is absconding.

Police said the lavish lifestyle of accused has motivated them to commit a daylight robbery.  According to the complainant Ratan Devi Toshniwal (53), the accused planned a robbery attempt on February 29. While they tried to enter the bedroom of the complainant, her son, Yash (16), came out of the bathroom and all the accused fled the place after seeing him. All the arrested have been remanded to judicial custody.
