HYDERABAD: To deal with the ever increasing problem of parking place on the roads, the state government is coming up with a “Parking Policy” on the lines of several metros in the US, Canada, Germany and other countries.
Beginning with GHMC area, the parking policy will be implemented in all major cities in the state shortly. As part of the policy, parking slots for two-wheelers, four-wheelers and other major vehicles will be identified in the city.
Trucks coming from other states will be provided truck terminals on the outskirts of the city.
The draft policy is also dealing on how to provide parking slots at Hyderabad Metro railway stations. “Parking cannot be provided directly under the Metro railway station.
We are identifying places for parking near railway stations,” an official explained.
Private tourist buses too will be provided parking slots. The officials are also planning to have multi-storeyed parking slots at different places.
“The draft policy is ready. Once, the state Cabinet approves it, we will implement the same,” an official in the municipal administration and urban development told Express on Monday.
