Why is Chief Minister silent on fee issue?

The committee set up by the government to look into the setting up of District Fee Regulatory Committee (DFRC) has sought an extension to submit its report.

HYDERABAD: The committee set up by the government to look into the setting up of District Fee Regulatory Committee (DFRC) has sought an extension to submit its report. Headed by Prof Tirupathi Rao, the committee was to submit its report to the government before the deadline of April 20.

Though the details like the reasons behind asking for extension is not clear, parents association allege that the extension shows that school managements have succeeded in delaying the report.

“We have been informed that even on April 17, some school association representatives pleaded for an extension. Looks like, government listens only to them,” said Ashish Naredi, representative member of the Hyderabad School Parents Association (HSPA).

He added that HSPA will launch a postcard campaign asking all citizens to write to the CM about their grievances. Parents association also said that they will reiterate their demand of an immediate stay on fee hike till enactment of a new law to regulate school fees.

In the past few weeks, Gujarat, Punjab and UP have announced new legislations to regulate school fees despite little or no intervention by parents.
