Married man arrested for confining, sexually abusing minor girl in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: A 31-year-old married man with four children, has been arrested here on charges of confining a 16-year-old girl for three days and sexually abusing her in the name of marriage, police said today.

Mirza Rahmath Ali Baig, a resident of Alibagh, lured the minor girl after developing befriending her over the last fortnight and promising to marry her. Believing his version she went away with him on April 14, they said. After the girl went missing from her house, her mother lodged a complaint with Kalapather police.

The investigation revealed that the accused had confined the girl in his house for three days in the name of marriage and sexually assaulted her, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Charminar Division) K Ashok Chakravarthy said today.

“He did not inform the minor girl that he is already married and having four children. The family of Mirza were not present in the house as his wife was in the hospital for delivery,” the ACP said. Mirza, who is a robbery offender was arrested and produced before a local court yesterday which remanded him in judicial custody, police added.
