HYDERABAD: If Prof Tirupathi Rao committee has its way, soon schools in the state will have to submit their annual returns along with audited financial statements by 30 September every year. The draft format and web portal is ready and it is expected to be formally launched within a couple of weeks. The committee which was constituted to look into the setting up of District Fee Regulatory Committees, is working with Centre for Good Governance to develop the online form.

With the e-submission of fee structures and financial details, the schools will be able to submit their financial statements to the government, which in turn can keep a track of their financial activities. Hyderabad Schools Parents Association (HSPA) lauded the initiative and stated that if successfully implemented the initiative will enable the implementation of GO MS No 1 issued in 1994, the association alleged. “Several schools in the previous meetings of the committee said that they do not have books of accounts. In such a situation, we have to see how many schools actually comply with the directive and how,” said Ashish Naredi, HSPA representative in the Committee.

Meanwhile, the school management associations assured to cooperate with the government and committee on the matter. Copies of the data submitted on the portal will also be submitted to the respective DEOs to ensure that the information provided was not fudged.  It was also been communicated to HSPA on Wednesday that a meeting of the committee with all its representatives would be convened in a week’s time. The parents’ association had recently written to Prof Rao demanding a meeting to discuss the reasons for the delay in the submission of the report.
