Bandaru points finger at pub culture
HYDERABAD: A fortnight after the city woke up to one of the biggest drug busts in recent times, Central minister for Labour and Employment, Bandaru Dattatreya called for the two Telugu-speaking states to curb the pub culture that is allegedly instigating youth to take drugs and lead astray.
The minister on Friday met the officials of Narcotics Control Bureau on the measures to be taken to curb the drug menace.
“I call upon Chief Ministers of the two state to stop the pub culture and make the city pub free. Health of a person should be of priority than making revenue for the state,” he said. The minister called for the youth affairs ministers, educational institutions and parents to educate and inform youth about the ill-effects of consuming drugs. “Extensive campaigns such as observing International Drug Day on June 26 must be implemented,” he said.
Nayini rules out pressure on Akun
Suryapet:Home Minister N Narasimha Reddy said there is no pressure on the director, Enforcement Akun Sabharwal for going on leave amid the ongoing drug busts in the city. Sabharwal’s leave has been in news since morning as the state prohibition and enforcement wing has been probing into the tollywood-drug mafia nexus. “Akun Sabharwal is going on leave on personal grounds. There is no pressure on him,’’ he said.
