Two-day-long Bonalu festivities come to an end in Old City

HYDERABAD: The two-day-long Bonalu came to an end on Monday. The procession passed off peacefully in the Old City on Monday evening with the immersion of goddess Mahankali ‘ghatams’ near the banks of Musi river at Nayapul. However, due to incessant rains on the day, the procession was delayed.

A combined procession on a caparisoned elephant, carrying Ghatam of the Goddess Mahankali was taken out from Sri Akkanna Madanna Mahankali Mandir, Haribowli. The procession comprising ghatams of over 12 other Mahankali temples went through Shahalibanda, Charminar, Patherghatti.

The temples that participated in the procession are Sri Akkanna Madanna Mahankali Mandir, Haribowli, Mateshwari Mutyalamna Temple, Bela, Bangaru Maisamma Temple, Shalibanda, Nalla Pochamma and Mahankali Temple, Muradmahal, Bangaru Maisamma Temple, Sultanshahi and Mahankali temples of Gowlipura, Lal Darwaza, Kotla Ali Jah, Miralam Mandi and few other Mahankali temples. Hundreds of devotees lined along the procession route to watch the convoy.
