Give miscarriage a miss

Fast-paced lifestyles are inadvertently leading to reproductive disorders in women.

HYDERABAD: Quite contrary to popular conceptions, the road towards pregnancy and motherhood does not begin in your twenties or thirties. Early lifestyle habits in girls shape their reproductive streams. If girls choose to neglect their bodies early on, it is natural that they will need to undergo subsequent consequences later in life be it in the form of menstruation problems or reproductive disorders.

It is the time and energy one invests in his/her personal health in twenties that decide the quality of benefits which can be reaped in forties.

To stay on top of trend, women walk on high heels, to save time on cooking, embrace the ‘heat and eat culture’ and indulge excessively in junk food and fizzy drinks.

These are the offending agents which culminate in lifestyle disorders like early diabetes, obesity etc which in turn results in miscarriages in pregnant women.

It is negligence of one’s personal health, as a result of embracing fast-paced lifestyles, which inadvertently lead to reproductive disorders in women like miscarriages.

Miscarriage most often is the result of poor lifestyle choices. The impact of a miscarriage has far reaching consequences that can range from physical sickness to chronic depression. Weight management becomes one of the major reasons behind a miscarriage or even during the time when one is trying to conceive. Not only obesity, but being underweight also can have an impact on one’s reproductive ability.

Lifestyle doesn’t limit to food and fitness habits but inculcates broader aspects like clothing, sitting postures etc.  Instead of viewing this like a straight line that starts from a poor lifestyle which ends in infertility or increased miscarriages, we need to look at this as a cycle.

Those six inches of heel that you walk uncomfortably in as a teenager, could prove to be the reason for your backbone disorders later in life. It all boomerangs back to you when you become pregnant and a horde of related ailments pull you down, miscarriages could be just one of them.

Wearing tight fitting clothes regularly can have a negative impact on one’s reproductive organs which again could emerge as a contributing factor for a future miscarriage. In short, your lifestyle decides your health.

In the race to prove equal to men, women tend to forget that one unique trait they own which makes them superior to men- the power to give life.

The ability to grow a single cell into a breathing life of flesh and blood is what makes women the root of nature. While we set our career priorities, we forget to understand, our biological clock isn’t aware of any of these.

As repetitive as it may sound, your eggs will diminish in number as your age proceeds. Setting your career aside to have a baby is not the right take, however, being open to alternatives could be a good idea. Today, medical technology has become so synchronised to our evolving society that one could consider options like freezing eggs, sperm collection centres etc.

These are timely actions which when imitated at the right time; one can reduce the risks of infertility as well as miscarriages. These baby steps of the day could help in nurturing a healthy and successful pregnancy tomorrow.
