Farmer attempts suicide in front of chief minister KCR's camp office in Hyderabad

Mallesh was seen sitting on the footpath near Pragathi Bhavan, where he reportedly consumed some pesticide to end his life.

HYDERABAD/JOGULAMBA GADWAL : A farmer from Jogulamba Gadwal district attempted suicide near CM’s camp office, Pragathi Bhavan in Hyderabad, on Tuesday.

The policemen at the camp office noticed the farmer vomiting and shifted him to hospital. Police said that the farmer identified as Rampur Mallesh was from Alur village of Gattu mandal in Jogulamba Gadwal district.

On Tuesday morning, Mallesh reportedly consumed pesticide near the CM’s camp office. Police shifted him to Gandhi Hospital for treatment. Punjagutta inspector S Ravinder said, “His health is stable now.” Mallesh’s family said that he had two acres of red soil land in the village. 

He cultivated cotton in the 2015-16 crop season. Mallesh sustained losses due to infection of red insect on the crop. Meanwhile, Mallesh also dug up two borewells, which went dry soon. Mallesh also wrote letters to district collector and agriculture department commissioner, asking for help. 

Mallesh also made frequent visits to the CM’s camp office. His plight reached the CMO officials but no help reached him. Meanwhile, a fire reduced his hut to ashes.

With the help of some fellow villagers, he erected a hut. Gadwal district collector Rajat Kumar Saini visited the victim’s family and inquired about his condition from his wife Satyamma.
