HYDERABAD: Hundreds of students who visit the City Central Library at Chikkadpally on a daily basis will now be truly rewarded. IT Minister KT Rama Rao promised a `5 crore budget to develop the facility.
The library is visited by at least 1,000 students preparing for competitive exams. They have a tough time concentrating on the dilapidated building with poor infrastructure and the stench from the toilets haunting visitors.

Sharad Kumar, an aspiring engineer, told Express, “The library sees such a huge rush only because it is near the coaching centres. But it has not been upgraded with new books in four years.” However, librarian KV Sitaram Shastri said, “Four years back, frequent powercuts were a major challenge for the library. Thankfully, that has been resolved. The government’s move to invest into the library is most welcome.”
