HYDERABAD:  A 23-year-old youngster died in an attempt to escape from police custody on Friday in Hyderabad, The youngster was picked up by the police on suspicion of an accused in house breaking offences. However, police claimed that the accused died when he jumped into a quarry, while escaping.

The suspect identified as Akkinapally Ganesh of Gudapur village in Nalgonda district was picked up by the patrolling party of Hayathnagar police station, when Ganesh and his associate Ramesh were moving under suspicious circumstances at Munaganuru village.

According to police, the duo was carrying cutting pliers, some cash, liquor bottles and material used to commit house breaking offence. When the duo was intercepted for questioning, Ramesh said that he works as a driver of an earth moving vehicle at Siva Ganga quarry. When the police team took the duo to the quarry, panicked Ganesh got down of the car and jumped into a quarry after running for some distance.
