Two metro stretches in Hyderabad to be completed by mid-2017

The two metro stretches between Nagole-Begumpet and Miyapur-Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar are to be commisioned by mid of this year.

HYDERABAD: With an intention to commission the two metro stretches between Nagole-Begumpet and Miyapur-Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar by mid of this year, Chief Secretary, SP Singh inspected the stretches to identify the gaps, required street level works at the stations, feeder services, passenger security arrangements and others.

On the instructions of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, a team of senior officials led by Chief Secretary SP Singh inspected the Nagole-Begumpet (16 km) and Miyapur-SR Nagar stretch (11 km) on Sunday. Meanwhile, NVS Reddy informed the chief secretary that Municipal Administration minister KT Rama Rao, who was recently shown a preliminary plan of the street level works being taken up by HMRL, had instructed that the Metro Rail stretches cleared by Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) be provided with world-class facilities including street rejuvenation, feeder bus services, electric vehicles and bicycle stations so that the problem of traffic congestion and pollution can be comprehensively addressed.

Later in the day, while participating in a brainstorming session at Operation Control Centre (OCC) in Uppal Metro Rail depot, commissioner of police (Hyderabad) M Mahendar Reddy requested all the participants and L&T engineers to give ideas, suggestions for incorporation in the Command and Control Centre that is being built by the police department at Banjara Hills and for integration of the Metro OCC with it.
SP Singh advised the police  commissioner and the additional commissioner of police Jitender to give their inputs regarding passenger security and traffic improvement measures that are being planned by HMRL at the Metro stations.
