HYDERABAD: What comes across as an eyesore in the popular market area in Barkas are open dustbins lying at one corner of the main road overflowing with garbage. “Barkas is known for its rich food culture. People who come here from across the city are irked by the foul smell of the dustbins,” said a fruit seller Mustafa.  The garbage overflowing from the five huge dustbins reach the main road. Cattle gathering at the spot looking for food is a common scenario and creates traffic disturbances.

The residents also pointed that the roads in the two bastis in Barkas are damaged, with most of the speed breakers lying broken.“It is difficult to drive where the roads are inclining upwards as they are irregular or broken at the slant, “ said Abdallah Ahmed a resident.

When Ward Corporator Shabana Begum was contacted for her response, her husband received the call and said, “It is an area in Chandrayangutta constituency which comes under MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi and the administration here is great. However, small flaws are looked after on timely basis. We will visit the spot next morning and ensure that the dustbins are cleaned immediately. All the roads which need repair will be taken care of soon.”
