HYDERABAD: While some of the country’s best minds, at the Indian Meteorological Department, are working hard to predict if Telangana will get any rains in the coming months, oracles seem to have all the answers. Jogini Swarnalatha, an oracle said during the Rangam prediction on Monday that the State was going to get abundant rains in the coming days and that farmers would be blessed with good harvest.

Should people at IMD start worrying about their jobs now?
“I will bless all the people equally irrespective of their caste and creed and ensuring their safety and security is my responsibility,” said Swarnalatha, standing on an earthen pot inside the Ujjaini Mahankali Temple.

In an explosive ‘prediction’, she said that the government would collapse due to poor arrangements and high handedness by the police during the festival on Sunday.  She expressed her anguish and distress at the government and its officials for causing untold hardships to the devotees who came to offer prayers on Sunday.

“There is a feeling among the government officials that they have done well for the devotees this year, but in reality they have only caused them harm. People are cursing the government and officials,” she said.
“Don’t think I would be happy with your offering of Bangaru Bonam. You have only given me what is mine. I don’t need a golden bonam, but am looking for a happy bonam. I wanted the authorities to make sure that devotees are not subjected to inconvenience.’’

Minister annoyed
Meanwhile, it is learned that the oracle’s predictions have annoyed Animal Husbandry minister T Srinivas Yadav.  He expressed his displeasure but admitted that the devotees could have faced some minor inconvenience due to the crowd. He said that the oracle should have restrained herself from making such harsh comments against the government.
