HYDERABAD: On a day when Congress chief Rahul Gandhi visited Charminar in the Old City, AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi “welcomed” him and took a potshot by challenging him to contest the next parliamentary elections from the Hyderabad parliamentary constituency.

Speaking to mediapersons on Sunday, Owaisi said, “Ten days ago, BJP President Amit Shah also visited my constituency and had promised that he would ensure that the city would be Owaisi/Majilis-mukt. With all the humbleness and humility, I would request Congress president that he should contest from Hyderabad against me and Amit Shah should do the same from BJP.”

He also reminded Gandhi that when Congress was in power, since 2009, “there were several communal incidents”. “I would like if he accepts my offer. I would like to contest against a janeo-dhari and a Hindu nationalist,” the Hyderabad MP said. Meanwhile, Owaisi also called for probe into the Amritsar tragedy.
