Ramagundam cops seize huge haul of explosives

PEDDAPAllI: Ramagundam police have arrested 12 persons and seized a huge haul of explosives, including 10,523 gelatin sticks, 14,800 electrical detonators and 1,874 non-electrical detonators on Monday.  According to Commissioner of Police P Satyanarayana, Ramagundam police have arrested the 12 culprits and seized the explosives during a series of flash raids conducted at different places in Peddapalli and Mancherial districts. 

The accused, according to police, were supplying the explosives to the persons who have licenses to possess such material. Arrested persons were identified as Ajmeera Nirmal Roy, Ranaveni Dharmaraju, Allepu Chandrashekar, Musthyala Hari Prasad, Patha Balakrishna, Sayyad Bapu, Dharmaji Srinivas, Ollepu Venkati, Narkulla Gangadhar, Mogili Srinivas, Sonaboina Kumara Swamy and  Bhupathi Harinand Babu belonging to Mancherial, Choppadandi, Dharmaaram, Basanthnagar and Kannala villages. 

The police also informed that they are on lookout for two more persons, Mandala Anjaiha and Ollepu Bakkaiha who are involved in supply of the explosives. Police also seized 289 boosters, 80 bags of ammonium, eight bags of gunpowder and two autos worth Rs 6 lakh.

The raids were conducted as part of security measures being taken to ensure smooth conduct of forthcoming Assembly elections in the State. Additional DCP (Admin) Ashok  Kumar, DCP (law & order) Ravi Kumar, task force and CCS personnel formed 15 special teams to conduct the raids at the same time in Basanth Nagar, Sultanabad and Julapalli of Mancherial district and seized explosives.
