HYDERABAD:Alcohol abuse and abuse due to alcoholism go hand-in-hand. In a disturbing video that has now gone viral, a three-year-old is seen being picked up, flung in the air and brutally banged against the windshield of an auto amid shrill wails of the onlookers. The man who brutally assaulted the toddler was none other than his own father.
The incident happened in the middle of the road in Jagathgirigutta on Sunday night. The man had gotten into a heated argument with his wife and another woman with whom he was allegedly in an extramarital relationship. As the argument escalated, in a fit of rage, the man repeatedly assaulted the child.
As the child’s mother was not willing to file a complaint, police have booked a suo-motu case against auto driver Shiva Goud under Juvenile Justice Act.
The child was rescued from his father and shifted to Niloufer Hospital. From there, the Child Welfare Committee of Rangareddy district took over his custody and shifted him to a Shishuvihar.Police say Shiva Goud was an alcoholic and had recently developed relations with another woman residing in the neighbourhood. However, it soon soured and when he visited her on Sunday, heavily drunk, a fight broke out and she sent him out of the house threatening to file a police case against him. She also called police for help.
Knowing this, Shiva returned to his house and told the matter to his wife. Later, he along with his wife and son decided to visit his lover and settle the matter. Enroute, they met with her and soon an argument broke out. All three of them became enraged and started shouting standing on the road. Police arrived at the scene by then.
In front of the cops, in a fit of rage, Shiva grabbed the child by his collar, lifted him about seven feet up in the air and beat him against his auto rickshaw. Then he threw the child to the ground and pummelled him. When police intervened, Shiva tried to threaten them while his wife abused them, leading to a commotion in the locality.The boy is suspected to have suffered internal injuries, but doctors say his condition has stabilised.
