Cantt residents seek collector’s intervention for reopening of roads

With no response coming from the Local Military Authority (LMA), Cantt residents seek collector’s intervention for reopening of roads.

HYDERABAD: With no response coming from the Local Military Authority (LMA) on re-opening of the closed roads in the Secunderabad Cantonment limits, residents welfare association (RWA) members on Monday approached Hyderabad district collector Yogitha Rana and submitted a representation seeking reopening of roads.

In their representation to the district administration, Open Secunderabad Cantonment All Roads (OSCAR) members explained the problems being faced by the civilians due to the closure of 14 roads and sought the district administration’s intervention in the issue as the LMA failed to reopen certain roads in spite of an order from the ministry of defence.

The representation said the defence ministry’s orders were not being followed even after 30 days by the Local Military Authority. On May 22, the LMA removed all barricades on the 11 roads that had been earlier closed to the public.

S Chandrasekhar, spokesman of OSCAR, said, “Without following the orders of the defence ministry and without reopening all the roads, how can they submit details of traffic movement?  We demand that the LMA implement the orders issued by the defence minister and remove the walls and barricades which are blocking roads.”
